Megan Thee Stallion Says She Paid $250,000 for Future to Feature on ‘Pressurelicious’

Published

on

Megan Thee Stallion’s long-awaited sophomore album, “Traumazine,” dropped last week after a slew of successful chart-topping singles, including the Future-featuring “Pressurelicious”

In an interview with the LA Leakers on Power 106 Los Angeles, Megan admitted that the feature came with a price tag of $250,000.

“I had the beat for ‘Pressurelicious,’ right? I recorded the song, and I recorded it one way. And I’m like, ‘You know what? This would really sound hard if Future was on it,” she said before adding: “So I feel like being a woman in the industry, reaching out to a man trying to get a feature is always going to be a task. You never know what to expect.”

Megan says she put in a request to find out the Atlanta rapper’s feature price and said she wanted to make sure that he turned in his verse while they were both in the same area.

“They was like, ‘Okay, 250. He wants 250K.’ I was like, ‘OK, bet. Somebody go pull 250,000 out of the bank and go drop it off to Future and tell him I need the verse before he leaves [Miami].’”

Despite an initial objection from her team, Megan went through with the move and Future delivered his end of the deal. He sent back the seven-minute beat — having rapped through its entirety — which Megan then chopped and used to create the final version of “Pressurelicious.”

Aside from the Future verse, Megan also described “Traumazine” as an album about “dealing with yourself” after years of trauma. “This album — I feel like I wrote it as a letter to me, a letter to my mom — I didn’t even write these songs as regular songs, I wrote them like diary [entries]. It’s different.”

The album’s rollout has seen Megan in a much more serious tone than her previous releases. A few days before its arrival, the rapper alluded to “Traumazine” being the final project she’d deliver with 1501 Certified Entertainment — the label she’s had ongoing issues with for the past few years.

Lizzo Drops Teaser for ‘2 B Loved’ Music Video: ‘Are You Ready?’

Published

on

Lizzo‘s “2 B Loved (Am I Ready)” music video is on its way, and it might be picking up where her “Truth Hurts” video left off.

Fans got a sneak peek at the video concept on Sunday (Aug. 14) when Lizzo shared a teaser clip that begins with the wedding set from “Truth Hurts” and ends with the singer speeding off like a runaway bride.

“ARE YOU READY..?” Lizzo wrote on Twitter. “THE ‘2 B LOVED’ MUSIC VIDEO IS COMING…”

She ended her tweet with 12 bride emojis.

On Friday, she’d hinted at the new video on Instagram, where she posted a clip of herself running into the water in a wedding dress, with the caption “DID I SAY YES?”

“2 B Loved (Am I Ready)” is featured on Lizzo’s latest studio album, Special. Her first single from the set, “About Damn Time,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, making it her second Hot 100 leader (after “Truth Hurts” topped the chart in 2019).

Watch the preview for Lizzo’s upcoming video below.

Fans Choose Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Freaky Girl’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

Published

on

Nicki Minaj‘s latest single, “Super Freaky Girl,” has topped this week’s new music poll.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Aug. 12) on Billboard, choosing the Queen of Rap’s Rick James-sampling track as their favorite new music release of the past week.

“Super Freaky Girl” beat out new music by Megan Thee Stallion (Traumazine), Anitta and Maluma (“El Que Espera”), NIKI (Nicole), Rod Wave (Beautiful Mind), and others.

“Super Freaky Girl” finds Minaj doing what she does best — remixing old hits and reintroducing them to a new generation of fans. Where her 2014 smash “Anaconda” revisited Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” “Freaky Girl” employs James’ 1981 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Super Freak.” She has a gleeful time reanimating the classic track’s salacious funk with sexual innuendo and a flow that knows when to speed up and when to really land a punchline.

“Super Freaky Girl” is Minaj’s first release since “We Go Up” with Fivio Foreign in March. Prior to that, she dropped “Blick Blick” with Coi Leray, “Bussin” with Lil Baby, and “Do We Have A Problem?” with Lil Baby again — all from this year.

Placing second on the past week’s tally with 8% of the vote was Megan Thee Stallion’s sophomore album, Traumazine. The unflinching and revealing new full-length sees the Houston rapper at her most vicious, as heard on fiery tracks “Plan B” and “Ungrateful.” She then mellows into the soul bearing “Anxiety,” creating a multi-faceted body of work.

See the final results of this week’s new music release poll below.
