Halsey has a new look! The musician debuted an edgy haircut, and it’s serving retro vibes.

“Return of my mullet,” the New Jersey native, 27, captioned a video shared via Instagram on Wednesday, July 13. In the clip, the hitmaker showed off the edgy blonde look, giving the camera a sultry pout. “And the nineties-vibes-only red and blue makeup combo,” Halsey said of their glam. To complement the new ‘do, Halsey rocked dangling earrings and a sheer T-shirt layered over a black bra.

One day later, Halsey showcased a different look in a series of photos celebrating their son Ender’s 1st birthday. In the carousel of images, Halsey is seen rocking a jet black mane with soft curls as they cradled their little one.

“My little tiny baby is a big one year old today!” Halsey captioned the Thursday, July 14, social media post. “Time flies, and I want to land the plane. permanently. your baba and I love you so much. you are smart and fiercely determined and sweet and curious and funny. I am so lucky that you found me Ender Ridley! 🌈.”

Ender’s birthday comes after Halsey opened up about their prior struggles to conceive in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to a safe abortion last month.

“I miscarried three times before my 24th birthday. It seemed a cruel irony that I could get pregnant with ease but struggled to maintain a pregnancy,” they told Vogue in an interview published on July 1. “One of my miscarriages required ‘aftercare,’ a gentle way of saying that I would need an abortion, because my body could not terminate the pregnancy completely on its own and I would risk going into sepsis without medical intervention.”

The “Without Me” artist added: “During this procedure, I cried. I was afraid for myself, and I was helpless. I was desperate to end the pregnancy that was threatening my life.”

In Halsey’s essay, they expressed their stance on reproductive rights following the SCOTUS ruling.

“Many people have asked me if, since carrying a child to term after years of struggling to do so, I have reconsidered my stance on abortion. The answer is firmly no,” the “Nightmare” singer added. “In fact, I have never felt more strongly about it. My abortion saved my life and gave way for my son to have his. Every person deserves the right to choose when, if, and how they have this dangerous and life-altering experience. I will hold my son in one arm, and fight with all my might with the other.”

The Best Ayurvedic Spa Treatments to Try in New York City

Published

For the massage, Saini chose dhanwantram oil for me, to help balance the vata and pitta doshas. It promises antioxidant effects with its cocktail of roots, flowers, herbs, oils, and spices, as well as cow’s milk. My therapist, Constance Nicolas, used confident, medium-to-firm strokes to work the oil in and then pressed the oiled elakizhi bundles into my back. My elakhizi contained a cooked mixture of fresh Moringa and fenugreek leaves, lemon slices, turmeric, rock salt, and grated coconut and were ingeniously nestled in a Crock-Pot, where they lay warming in dhanwantram oil. The aromatic vibe was more Indian restaurant than spa, and the bundles felt warm and squishy as they were pressed into my skin. They squelched and frankly felt a bit unappealing but worked almost instantly. I floated off into that space between sleep and wakefulness, where I remained till my treatment ended. My muscles felt less tense, and a sore spot on my shoulder had vanished, so you wouldn’t have caught me caring about the fact that I smelled a bit fenugreek-y on the way out.

 The Well New York

I’ll start by saying The Well is the exact opposite of a traditional Ayurvedic spa—the minimalist, modern retreat in Manhattan’s Union Square is a luxe oasis offering a variety of wellness modalities. The treatment I got wasn’t strictly Ayurvedic either. It was, in fact, a Swedish massage, but what drew me in was the Marma Point Scalp Treatment, a 10-minute experience that can be added on to any bodywork treatment. Similar to acupuncture points, the 107 Marma points are key spots on the body, and Ayurvedic medicine believes activating them can benefit the body and mind. Head massages, both with and without oil, are vital therapies in the South Asian beauty and wellness canon, and I wanted to see how The Well would interpret them.

Really well, it turns out. My therapist, Krystel Laudante, started with the Swedish massage using sesame oil, and by the time my hour was up, my hunched shoulders that had rigor mortised in the vicinity of my ears had descended to their anatomically correct position. The head massage was just as restoring. With warmed coconut oil, Laudante gently massaged my head and worked on several points on my forehead, face, and scalp. It was a gentle touch with no more pressure than a caress, but at the end of 10 short minutes, I was floaty. My experience here might not have been truly Ayurvedic in practice, but it definitely was in spirit.

Rita Ora Reveals Her Unusual Emerald Engagement Ring

Published

Rita Ora has kept the details surrounding her nuptials to Taika Waititi largely under wraps, with no confirmation of the exact date the couple exchanged their vows. What we do know: Waititi proposed to Ora with an emerald in a diamond pavé-set bezel, then presented his new wife with a delicate wedding band during a private ceremony.

The singer revealed more details about her engagement ring on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon which, up until now, she has “never shown anyone.” “Because I love you and I feel like you’re part of our relationship, weirdly, because we watch you every night, I just felt like I’ll show you it,” she told Fallon, before offering up her hand to the camera. “He did good.”

When asked about the selection process, Ora said that she guided Waititi. “I just think, like, when you know what you want and I felt like I really knew that I wanted to be with this person, I just wanted it to feel really right,” she explained. “I may have taken him to the shop and I may have pointed out exactly what ring I wanted.”

19 Glorious Photos of ABBA, Masters of Retro ’70s Style

Published

on

ABBA members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad dominated radio airwaves back in the 1970s—but the Swedish supergroup is still as relevant as ever in 2023. Following up their smash hits like “Dancing Queen” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!,” the iconic band released a brand new album, titled Voyage, in 2021—their ninth and final studio album. This weekend, they’re also up for four major Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album of the Year, as well as Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for one of their leading singles, “Don’t Shut Me Down.”

Ahead of ABBA’s grand appearance at the Grammys on Sunday, Vogue is taking a look back at the Swedish group’s best fashion moments over the years. Photos from their heyday in the 1970s prove they’ve always been the masters of coordinated group style. While performing on stage, the four members have always shared a penchant for the dramatic—often synching up on groovy suits, bellbottom jeans, or disco-ready spandex catsuits. There’s a reason there’s a whole Broadway musical (and movie) set to their music; The group has a large roster of hits, and an even longer list of statement outfits to go along with them.

Many of their fabulously retro looks were designed by Owe Sandström, their go-to costume designer at the time. “I wanted [their outfits] to be like pieces of art, more than just costumes,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald. “My inspirations came from everywhere, from all over the world. Kimonos in Japan, the northern lights of Scandinavia. The latin boleros and flamenco pieces in Chiquitita and Fernando.”

While it’s easy to look back on their 1970s clothes as a time capsule, many of their pieces—including the flared denim and frilly blouses—couldn’t feel more current, especially as designers such as Celine’s Hedi Slimane constantly look back and draw from the decade. Log onto TikTok, and not only is ABBA’s music constantly being used for trending sounds, but many creators are also playing into their ’70s style, too (remember that beauty trend on the app where everyone was recreating bouncy, voluminous, ABBA-worthy curls?). ABBA is the gift that keeps on giving—and we simply can’t wait to see what they wear to the Grammys on Sunday.

Below, 19 glorious ABBA photos to enjoy.
