Sarah Jessica Parker Drops Her Skin-Care Routine

Published

on

Sarah Jessica Parker has been open about embracing the skin she’s in for years now, slamming critics who comment on her appearance and doing what she can to promote an anti-antiaging rhetoric that’s unbearably prominent in women’s lives everywhere.

Earlier this summer, the And Just Like That… actor opened up to Allure about how frustrated she was when the internet called her “brave” for stepping out bare-faced with suspiciously gray highlights—a reminder that, yes, women’s appearances do naturally change after 20 years in the spotlight. “I don’t think there’s a right or a wrong way to have a relationship with aging, living, time spent on earth,” Parker said. “But mine is that there are a million things I want to do with my free time, and none of them have to do with preserving [what I look like] now or trying to get back to 15 years ago. All I think about is like, Where am I going to eat? What books am I gonna bring with me? Can we get into that strange little restaurant? Will the water be warm enough where I wanna swim? Also, Wordle.”

It makes total and complete sense then that the Plaza Suite actor’s newest campaign with RoC Skincare is all about embracing the current stage of your life—wherever it may be—and looking forward with optimism. It’s more important than ever to remember that the conversations about getting older should be reframed: It simply isn’t about reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles anymore, but rather the acknowledgement of a fruitful and meaningful “accumulation of life”—a term Parker cheekily uses instead of the more traditional aging.

And for someone who’s spent the bulk of their career playing an over-the-top fashion girl, Parker admits she herself is more of the low-key variety. She tells Glamour she has stuck to a handful of products throughout her life, being totally overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices available on the market (same). “I’m pretty monogamous, and I have kind of been that way for most of my life,” she says. “So I’m not a big dabbler. I’m not hugely brave and experiment and try things.”

Just take a look at the actor’s routine, which she shares with us for our Drop The Routine series. It’s simple, effective, and straight to the point—just the way the no-fuss Sarah Jessica Parker likes her life (minus the incredible Carrie Bradshaw fashion).

My moisturizer

I use this one every single day. I pack it all the time. I’ll use it when I go to the theater and I’ll mix my base in it.

My skin-care tools

For years and years and years, I’ve had those jade rollers—there’s a big guy and there’s a small guy; they’re in my fridge. For my daughters’ birthdays, I bought them each their own because they’re always using mine. So there’s like three or four of them in the freezer. I come down in the morning for coffee and it just feels so good. Does it do anything? I don’t care.

My splurge-worthy treatments

I have a dermatologist that’s really talented and I trust her, but it’s very inconsistent because I’m working. Now, I’ll get a peel and I love it, but if you ask me what that peel was, I have no idea. I’m not regular or committed—I kind of wish I was. Maybe one day in the future I’ll have a standing date, but I don’t get facials. In the old days, I used to go to Mario Badescu, which I loved, for a good old-fashioned facial.

My serum

At night I use one of these packets, especially around my eyes, There’s this 24-hour hydration that I absolutely love.

My holy grail product

The Laura Mercier Caviar eye stick, always. In Khaki, Jungle, Tuxedo…good luck finding them, but I love them.

Kim Kardashian Wore a Nude Bikini and Thigh-High Boots to the Gym Because She’s Kim Kardashian

Published

on

Kim Kardashian is hopping on the thigh-high boot trend in a very Kim Kardashian way.

On August 13, the newly single reality star shared a low-fi video wearing a nude string bikini with a pair of heeled thigh-high boots to strut around a gym while a cover of “Paint It Black” by The Rolling Stones played in the background. To make sure her shoulders stayed warm, Kardashian covered them up with what appears to be a white T-shirt pulled behind her back.

“Gym time,” she captioned the perplexing video. (To be clear, Kardashian may have lifted a singular weight in the entire clip…maybe.) “I wore this to the gym this morning,” her sister Khloé Kardashian joked in the comments.

While Kim Kardashian could be wearing a wig in the video—she debuted a blunt platinum lob in late June—it’s also possible that this video was taken while the reality star was still dating Pete Davidson. The long blonde style with dark roots sure looks like it did in May when she was snapped by paparazzi outside a studio in Los Angeles. Davidson was with her that day, dying his own hair to match hers while she conducted a photo shoot for her Skims shapewear line.

Kardashian and Davidson broke up in early August after nine months of dating. While it was initially reported that the pair called it quits over their busy schedules and long-distance struggles, a source later told Entertainment Tonight that “the spark” had “faded.”

“They had tons of chemistry, and still do, but she kind of wants to be single and date,” the source continued. “Kim still adores Pete and will always be friends with him. She still thinks he’s the nicest and sweetest guy in the world and there’s no drama or anything weird between them now.”

The Best Dressed Stars This Week Chose Unexpected Shapes

Published

on

This week, the best dressed stars embraced theatricality on the red carpets. Big, bold silhouettes prevailed at movie premieres and Hollywood parties—whether it was dresses with voluminous ruffles, slouchy denim boots, or even sequined hoods. The memo among A-listers was to expect the unexpected when it came to their fashion choices.

Some of the standouts this week? Certain celebrities opted for vintage ensembles with strong shapes. Take Sydney Sweeney at the HCA TV Awards this weekend, when she revived a Mugler dress from 1981 that had exaggerated peplums. Or Kylie Jenner, who celebrated her 25th birthday this weekend in a vintage Paco Rabanne look. The silvery getup complete with a disco ball-like hood, which was ready to party the night away in.

Impactful colors also had a moment. On the Jimmy Fallon show, Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan opted for a Zimmermann floral dress with tons of ruffles, While out in New York, Lili Reinhart also slipped into Tory Burch’s sporty dress with a dash of yellow color-blocking. Speaking of New York, however, there was one city street style moment that truly stole the show: When Rihanna emerged in Y/Project’s extra-slouchy denim boots, fresh off the runway. A head-turning accessory only the Bad Gal herself could truly pull off.

Which were your favorite celebrity looks this week? Be sure to vote below, and check back on Friday to see which ensemble is the ultimate best dressed of the week.

The Kardashian-Jenners Show Three Ways to Modernize Body-Con Dresses

Published

on

If you’ve been following the Kardashian-Jenners since their early days on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, you’ll know that the stylish siblings have always loved a body-con dress: Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe in particular. The show skyrocketed to fame in the early 2010s, after all—there was no better time for skintight Hervé Léger bandage dresses. Over the years, the five siblings’ personal styles may have evolved, but their penchant for form-fitting frocks has never quite quit (Kim, for instance, has been favoring Balenciaga’s spandex catsuits lately). This weekend on Instagram, Kylie posted a new photo with Kendall and Kim, and their trio of summery outfits showcased a more modern update on their signature body-con dressing.

Posing aboard a yacht for Kylie’s 25th birthday celebrations, the three sisters did figure-hugging dresses in a fresh, new way. Kylie wore a sequined and sheer off-the-shoulder dress, complete with an asymmetrical high slit. It’s a more minimal (and elegant) take on the vacuum-sealed style. Kim opted for a shredded red Rick Owens gown that had one long sleeve, her design favoring the more futuristic vibe she’s been channeling as of late. Kendall, meanwhile, slipped into a two-piece, choosing a glitzy bra top and skirt that’s perfect for a night out.

Fashion in general has been moving back towards body-con silhouettes—see the clingy pieces at Mugler, Jacquemus, and Eckhaus Latta—so the Kardashian-Jenners are clearly onto something with keeping their signature sexy look alive. It would be a sight to see the Kardashian-Jenners slip back into their 2010s club wear—but their 2022 takes on the vibe is pretty close. They’re a little more (okay a lot more) current.
