TikTok Is Obsessed With This ‘Perfect’ Rare Beauty Liquid Blush Dupe

Published

on

Rare Beauty’s Liquid Blush has developed a devout following, though its seemingly sudden cyber-stardom shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as “glazed” beauty is simultaneously inspiring makeup lovers to swap matte products for dewy liquids—blushes and bronzers in particular. According to consumer data from online payment service Klarna, cream blush is actively replacing powder, and sales of the product have risen by 69% in the past month alone.

The anti-matte movement, combined with Rare Beauty’s TikTok acclaim—“rare beauty blush” and #rarebeautyblush have amassed a combined 1.5 billion views on the platform—means the product has become one of the most coveted beauty products of the year. Even experts agree that as far as liquid blush goes, this one lives up to the hype.

“The Rare Beauty liquid blush became so popular because of the its consistency,” New York City makeup artist Molly Thompson-Tubridy tells Glamour. Other liquid formulas aren’t as pigmented or they’re too runny. Rare’s version feels more like a cream, which makes for less mess and less wasted product. “I bought the mini version of the blush last Christmas, and I still have over half a bottle left,” she says.

The obsession is great news for Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez, for whom we’re never not rooting, but not so much for those of us who can’t track down a tube in any color, particularly in Happy, a perfect pink that’s the star of the range. This is where TikTok’s devoted beauty sleuths come in. After much trial and error, dupe-detectives have uncovered what they insist is a “perfect” and “affordable” alternative: Revolution Beauty’s Blush Bomb. And it’s only $8.

“The Revolution Beauty blush is a perfect dupe,” says Thompson-Tubridy, who has tried both blushes, though she has noticed a slight difference in pigment, as she often needs to apply more layers than she would Rare’s version. The difference in price—Revolution’s is $22 less than Rare’s—more than makes up for it, she says.

As for what TikTok users think? It’s safe to say they’re obsessed, both with the color match and its affordability, resulting in Revolution Beauty’s Blush Bomb trending on the app itself. So whether you’re looking for a more affordable option or waiting for Rare Beauty’s liquid blush to come back into stock (or both?), Revolution Beauty’s Blush Bomb has you covered.

Goth Bride Megan Fox Just Debuted a Blonde Lob and Blunt Bangs

While she may have gone blonde (again), she’s still the same Megan Fox. On January 28, the future goth bride shared a photo of a small shrine dedicated to her relationship with fiancé Machine Gun Kelly, writing, “The pendulum says you guys gotta start conceptualizing the more nuanced levels of trolling.” The reason for her pointed message remains unclear.

Instagram, Megan Fox

Fox and MGK are no strangers to manifestation and rituals. In January 2022, Fox told her followers she drank Kelly’s blood after the pair got engaged. “Just as in every lifetime before this one and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes… And then we drank each other’s blood,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Yeah. So I guess to drink each other’s blood might mislead people or people are imagining us with goblets and we’re like Game of Thrones, drinking each other’s blood,” Fox later told Glamour UK. “It’s just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other’s blood on occasion for ritual purposes only.”

Best Fashion Instagrams of the Week: Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, and Rosalía

Published

Is the point-and-shoot aesthetic making a comeback? Because this week, It girls such as Dua Lipa, Rosalía, and Bella Hadid uploaded photos bathed in the gloriously unforgiving whitewash of shoddy flash photography. Hailey Bieber even took things one step further and shared a mirror selfie where the beams of flash bisect her face. The whole thing feels like a harbinger of a Myspace-era comeback of fun, bad-on-purpose photography.

Meanwhile, there were plenty of more obvious and concrete trends to be found on the celebrity section of Instagram. Troye Sivan showed off his delightful spin on “womenswear as menswear” with a Loewe appliquéd cable-knit wool sweater. The fashion crowd continues to embrace the punk-flavored power of a Chopova skirt. Addison Rae added to the ever-growing list of knockout vintage Y2K, donning a wrap skirt from Roberto Cavalli’s spring 2000 collection. And Timothée Chalamet loves Haider Ackermann (just like the rest of us).

All in all, it was a pretty good week on Myspace—erm, I mean Instagram!

Below, check out some of the most memorable posts of the week.

Legendary hairstylist Guido Palau, meanwhile, conjured a smörgåsbord of different looks: natural hair, slicked-back hair, two-tone hair, a bleached peach buzz cut, and a shocking pink mohawk. “None of the looks were really extreme because the clothes were so beautiful and crazy and quite exaggerated,” says Guido. “I wanted to keep it cool and kind of real. You know, when you’re at a club, there’s one girl with her hair pulled back and a guy with a great haircut, and then girls with texture. It just reflects today, really. But at night.”
