Superman & Lois star Tyler Hoechlin reveals that season 3 of the series will be filming soon. Superman & Lois is one of the newer shows in the Arrowverse, the family of television series adapted from DC Comics that are interconnected and air on The CW. Hoechlin’s small-screen version of Superman was originally introduced in the 2015 series Supergirl, which starred Melissa Benoist as his cousin Kara Zor-El. Running concurrently with Supergirl‘s final season, Superman & Lois season 1 premiered in 2021, following Superman returning to Smallville and attempting to live a normal family life raising his two sons with Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).
The show has quickly expanded to cover more than just the adventures of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, as the two boys came into their own as characters. Jordan Elsass plays their eldest son Jonathan Kent, while Alex Garfin plays his brother Jordan Kent, who has inherited superpowers from his father, which of course start causing all kinds of mayhem in his everyday school life. His arc came to a head late in season 2, when he was forced to reveal his powers to protect his school from an attack by Lana-Rho and Jon-El, who hail from the Inverse World that is merging with that of Smallville.
Screen Rant had the opportunity to attend San Diego Comic-Con 2022, where a panel was held discussing the upcoming Teen Wolf movie on Paramount+. Hoechlin, who appeared on 63 episodes of the series, is returning for the film as both actor and producer. While discussing reprising the role of Derek Hale in the film, he let it slip that Superman & Lois season 3 will be filming soon.
Unfortunately, Hoechlin didn’t specify the date that production will begin on Superman & Lois. However, both previous seasons have started filming in the fall, with season 1 beginning in October 2020 following a pandemic-related delay and season 2 beginning in September 2021. Depending on Hoechlin’s definition of soon, Superman & Lois season 3 could begin filming this September on a similar schedule, or continue the trend of moving one month earlier and pick up sometime in August.
Regardless, this is a rather quick turnaround, considering the fact that the Superman & Lois season 2 finale just aired in late June. This likely means that season 3 will be ready to air this winter, right on schedule a year after the previous season. After the bizarre scheduling issues that resulted from the beginning of the pandemic, it will be a relief for fans to see they can probably count on the show to maintain a consistent release pattern from now on.
